When it comes to medical emergencies, every second counts. Having access to air ambulance services can make a huge difference in a patient’s health outcome. Rotor wing or fixed wing – air ambulances meet the needs of patients for shorter distance to cross-country medical transports. Sometimes, patients may use air ambulances for both local and long-haul medical care. AirMedCare Network (AMCN) membership helps ensure either means of transport can be financially covered for patients.
A Real-Life Example
Kathryn “Laine” Dupree’s story highlights the critical role of air ambulance services. Her father, Randolf Robinson, experienced two medical emergencies where air ambulance care was essential. The first incident involved blood clots in his lungs, requiring vascular surgery. Thanks to his membership with AirMed Care Network (AMCN), he was transferred quickly by rotor wing air ambulance, avoiding out-of-pocket expenses.
The second incident was even more urgent. While on vacation in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mr. Robinson began hemorrhaging due to a newly diagnosed colon cancer. He needed immediate surgery, and a hospital in Atlanta was ready to help. AirMed International’s “Fly-U-Home” membership ensured he was transported swiftly and safely, with all logistics handled by AirMed.
Benefits of Air Ambulance Membership
Air ambulance memberships, like those offered by AirMed International and AMCN, provide several benefits:
- Rapid hospital-to-hospital transfers: Ensuring patients get the necessary care quickly.
- No out-of-pocket expenses: Members don’t have to worry about the cost of the flight when transported by one of the providers participating in the membership program.
- Comprehensive care: Highly trained air ambulance crews and logistics staff manage all aspects of the transport, from pickup to hospital admission.
- Peace of mind: Families are kept informed throughout the process, reducing stress during emergencies.
Access to air ambulance services is vital in medical emergencies. It ensures patients receive timely care, which can significantly improve their chances of recovery. Air ambulances play a critical role in ensuring patients get the care they need when and where they need it. Membership ensures that financial concerns are not a factor in these life-threatening emergencies, offering peace of mind when it is needed most.
Frequently Asked Questions:
If an AirMedCare Network Provider does not transport you, you will be responsible for payment. Our membership program only covers transports provided by our affiliates.
There is no limit to the number of transports a member may take in a year. Each transport is handled the same way and must be an emergent or time-sensitive transport as determined by a physician (or other appropriate provider) or first responder unaffiliated with AMCN.
With an AirMedCare Network membership, any person or persons who reside under one (residential) roof are covered. In the event we have a member who lives in a duplex or apartment complex, we designate the primary member’s residence/address— that is considered the “one roof”. Undergraduate college students can be covered under their parent’s membership as well as anyone previously residing in the household who is then moved to a permanent care facility.
