Air Evac Lifeteam
Air Evac Lifeteam was established by a group of local citizens to provide air medical transportation and ensure access to emergency health care for their remote community in West Plains, in the Missouri Ozark region. Although air ambulances were primarily based in metropolitan areas at the time, the company founders believed that the people who needed air medical transport the most were those living in rural areas, often far away from a hospital. That was in 1985. Today, Air Evac Lifeteam has grown to be the largest independently owned and operated membership-supported air ambulance service in the United States, operating more than 120 bases across 15 states.
Dennis Rohlfs, founder of Med-Trans, served as a Medevac pilot in the 571st Dust Off Unit during the Vietnam conflict. His experiences inspired him to create a safe and reliable means of emergent transportation to critical patients in need. His vision was to build his company on a foundation of premier customer service, solution agility and an industry leading safety environment all while promoting a family, team and partnership culture. This vision, along with growth, industry maturation and a continued commitment to new technology has created the Med-Trans Corporation we are all so very proud of! Today, as part of Air Medical Group Holdings, Med-Trans continue to lead the industry with many operational safety elements, premier partnership relationships and a world-class team. Med-Trans operate 64 air medical programs with a fleet of 73 aircraft.
